Our People
Allan Palmer

Allan has spent most of his working life (from 1981 to 2005) with Airservices Australia.
During this time he worked for 18 years as an Air Traffic Controller in the Melbourne Radar Centre and Melbourne and Essendon Control Towers.
In the following 6 years Allan was the Senior Documentation Officer responsible for leading a team with the objective of building a fully integrated Operational Documentation System for TAAATS (The Australian Advanced Air Traffic System).
The Documentation System initally involved aligning thousands of interrelated documents in paper format. Allan then built the system on the Intranet to allow everyone in the company to access them from any location, whilst reducing the number of controlled paper copies by 80%.
Allan has two children in Primary School, and has been keenly involved as a parent helper in the classroom and the robotics program since 2001. He has been a member of School Council since 2003 and also serves on the Education Sub-Committee.
His qualifications include a Diploma of Aviation (Air traffic Services), a Diploma in Frontline Management and is certified in Information Mapping® methodologies for developing procedures, policies and documentation.
In his spare time he enjoys reading a wide range of books and magazines, radio controlled models, Lego robotics, kite flying and learning something new every day.
